Nuclear sub contact

In addition to the Russian surface fleet,

there was a Nuclear Sub operating also.

If you have the Red 71-72 Cruise book, the picture is on page 69 showing the sub.

Our sonar got "possible" submarine contact on it when it was submerged and

when it surfaced we got "Positive" sub contact.

We were the first 26 sonar to ever make a positive contact on a Russian Nuke

Because of this, the entire sonar gang each received a brass plaque

and a bottle of Very Old Suntory Wiskey from the Commander of the Antisubmarine Force, Pacific Fleet.
