The next USS Fox reunion will be held in San Diego, CA, Sept 26 through Sept 29, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Mission Valley. We have 25 rooms blocked which can be increased. Our room rate is $105.00 plus 12.5% Tax. Hotel address is 2270 Hotel Circle North, San Diego, CA 92108. The hotel in centrally located to San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Beaches, and Airport. Reservations at the hotel can now be made. The hotel has established a web link for that purpose. You can also make reservations by phone. Call 1-888-233-9527. Please use this number and not call the hotel directly. The reservation center is open from 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM, EST, seven days a week. Cutoff date for reservations is 27 August 2013. Check out these San Diego attractions. Old Town Trolley Tours is a great way to see San Diego. There are a few options that we will look into, but this is good opportunity for an individual or small group to visit numerous San Diego attractions. The Hospitality Suite will be our gathering place and meeting room. There will be a table to display memorable items provided by our shipmates. Be sure to bring yours for the enjoyment of all. Beer, wine, soda and snacks will be provided. Our Welcome Aboard Reception will take place on Thursday evening starting sometime around 6 PM in the Hospitality room. There will be light hors d'ouerves (Italian), beer, wine, and soda. On Friday morning, Sept 27th., there will be transportation to Balboa Park for a self walking tour of a number of Museums. The bus will leave the hotel at around 8:00 AM and return at 1:00 PM. You will be dropped off and picked up at Inspiration Point. A tram runs throughout the park with a number of stops where you can get on and off. The Harbor Dinner Cruise will be Friday evening, Sept 27th, 2013, from 7 to 10 PM. Transportation will depart the hotel at 6 PM. Dinner menu consists of Beef short rids glazed with a Cabernet reduction sauce and Grilled Free Range Chicken Breast covered with smoked relish, wild arugula in California Wine Sauce. A second choice (Vegetarian) is housemade Manocotti served with Baby Spinach and North County Mushrooms farm fresh grilled vegatable ratatouille, California olive oil with lemon and fresh basil. There will also be a vegetarian selection of stuffed shells Florentine in a tomato sauce. There will be a live DJ host and dancing. We may get lucky and get enterained with a fire works display. There will be a meeting of the Board of Directors followed be a general meeting Saturday morning, Sept 28th.. Subjects, besides the 2015 reunion location, are still in the discussion stage. We will have another Silent Auction since the last one was very successful. For those of you not familiar with a Silent Auction, donated items by shipmates will be placed on display in the hospitality room. A sheet of paper will be placed next to each item where you may place your name and bid. On Saturday (time to be determined), the auction will take place and those with the best bids will win the item. The items can be anything, but normally they will represent your home town or state. The value can be any amount, but normally is kept to no more than $40. The value should be something we can all afford. The Saturday evening banquet will be a sit down dinner with your choice of: London Broil, Thinly Sliced and toppes with a green Pappercorn sauce. A 50/50 raffle will take place and other give-away's will be part of the evening of fun. The 50/50 raffle tickets will be on sale at the reunion and can be purchased on the registration form. We will have a seating chart for the banquet. There will be fields on the reunion registration form where you can indicate those with whom you wish to sit. The seating chart is available on this site. Sunday morning will be our Farewell Breakfast buffet. Ball Caps, Coffee Mugs, and Coins USS Fox Ball Caps, Coffee Mugs, and Coins will be available for purchase. They can be ordered on the registration form and be picked up at the reunion, or purchased at the reunion. |
